Henri Georges Clouzot (1907-1977) was a French film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his suspenseful films, such as The Wages of Fear (1953) and Diabolique (1955).

Clouzot was born in Niort, France, on November 13, 1907. He began his career in the film industry as a journalist and critic. In 1931, he directed his first film, The Murdered Woman. The film was a critical and commercial failure, but it did not deter Clouzot from continuing to make films.

In 1942, Clouzot directed The Raven, a psychological thriller that starred Pierre Fresnay and Ginette Leclerc. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish Clouzot as a major director.

In 1953, Clouzot directed The Wages of Fear, a suspenseful thriller that starred Yves Montand and Charles Vanel. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

In 1955, Clouzot directed Diabolique, a psychological thriller that starred Simone Signoret and Véra Clouzot. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it is considered to be one of the greatest suspense films ever made.
