Mitford's journey took her from Calcutta to Delhi, and she visited many of the major cities and towns along the way. She describes the bustling streets of Calcutta, the ancient ruins of Delhi, and the beautiful countryside of the Punjab. Mitford also met a wide range of people, from wealthy landowners to poor peasants, and she gives a vivid account of their lives and customs.

Mad Dogs and an Englishwoman is a valuable historical document, as it provides a first-hand account of India during a period of great change. Mitford's writing is also full of humor and insight, and her book is a delightful read for anyone interested in India or travel literature.
